Penny gets a Rain Coat!

We got a ton of rain over the summer so I thought since Penny doesn't mind wearing clothes, I could get her a raincoat... ok so it was just from Dollarama! Anyways, Penny is bigger than I thought and I totally bought the coat one size too small... But she posed with it on anyways :-)

Although she IS completely un-impressed! LOL

So Mark did some tree trimming and had stcked all the branches in the backyard. Zoey started investigating immediately and started eating at the leaves and digging... pretty soon she had dug out her own DOG CAVE!!!!!

Mark left the Dog Cave around for about a week and everytime we let Zoey out she would hide inside and chew on the bark for 20 - 30 minutes at a time. After a few days Penny started chewing as well, but always stayed on the outside... it was pretty hilarious :-)

Since the Dog Fort, Penny has started playing with sticks and not letting Zoey keep them all. I like it when Penny starts to take charge :-)

Summer Summary

So Mark and I got married in September so THAT is my excuse for not posting very much over the summer... So here is my quick Summaer Summary!

We took them to the local dog parka lot and they loved running free and meeting a ton of new dogs. A few things we learned from this:
Zoey is a very submissive dog
Penny is not and runs up and barks at pitbulls and rottweilers alike
They can't stay away from the mud
The fit right in with the little dog packs

After the dog park they usually crashed hard... this is a common position, snuggling together up on the couch...

When my mom was up, we closed the blinds so they couldn't bark at other dogs on walks or squirrels hanging out on the lawn... Zoey found a way in and then they proceeded to fight with the drapes between them... sheesh!


Zoey LOVES her rawhide... Penny is just starting to like eating rawhide, But Zoey can't get enough...

Is this why she looks so fat? LOL... Zoey is the biggest suck and often cuddles with Mark like this while he watches TV...

A favourite place to hang out this summer was my parents house! The huge backyard and tons of trees is great for them to go exploring... in this picture, Zoey was relaxing in the shade after being "chased" around by Penny.

Relaxing inside the house while Dad cooked us a yummy steak dinner...

Penny also quite enjoying the outside... and cleary very tired from "chasing" Zoey around. When I say chasing, basically Zoey runs as fast as she can and Penny hangs out in the middle and nips at Zoey as she runs by... A movie will be posted eventually...

Penny was at least trying in this picture... They're just too cute!!!

The girls LOVE to stick their heads out the window... Penny is pretty happy, even though Zoey often crowds her out and she always has to fight for a spot at the window... look at her windblown face hahaha!

For my wedding shower, my Auntie Kim got the girls their own Rider tutus! They don't ever get dressed up but were pretty good and were still long enough for me to take a picture...

All in all, it was a very busy and great summer... We're building our fence this weekend so hopefully soon the girls can get a doggie door and run free!

Our New Friend Max

So Mark saw a dog running down the easment and heading towards Grant Road. He ran out of the house and caught him. Brought him in our house and tried to call his owner. Because his owner was out looking for him, Mark tied Max up in the backyard with Penny and we waited.

Finally we got a hold of the owner and he came to pick Max up. Max was such a great dog, very well bahaved and only barked when Zoey got excited and jumped at him. Zoey, not so much of a good girl.

Penny gets some action!

So Penny is almost done being in heat, thank goodness... and despite Zoey's best efforts, Penny finally got some action :-S

Poor Zoey, she was so tired she didn't even try to escape :(

More Puppies!

More puppy pictures! For the longest time Penny would actually hide from Zoey and not want to play, but Zoey wanted to fight. Penny would hide under the table or behind the kennel... This time however she decided to fight back... now that Penny is a lot older, Penny fights back :)

It only took Zoey about 3 -4 days before she was able to jump on the couch. Penny took a couple months. Zoey would eat treats on the couch with Penny just watching, but it wasn't Mark decided to make Penny mad by blowing in her face that she finally jumped on the couch by herself.

Even thought they would fight and taunt each other... they're still sisters :-)

Cherry Eye

A couple of months ago Zoey woke up and she had a bad case of Cherry Eye. For anyone that doesn't know (like we didn't before), dogs have a third eyelid... sometimes in certain breeds.. pugs and beagles... the tear duct can get detached and needs surgery to repair it... so because it was about that time for her to get spayed as well, we did both surgeries at once.

And so she became conehead! I loved this picture, conehead eating a milk jug... made of the same material... haha! You almost can't tell where the cone ends and the jug starts :)

She did relatively well trying to get comfortable. She hated her eye cream, this her eye remainded a little red for longer than it should have... then she ate the tube of eye cream!

Dogs on TV

Zoey has started to take notice of dogs on the TV and she goes nuts! It's pretty funny. Usually Penny doesn't care, but in the video below, Zoey gets her going.

They don't bark at dogs at the dog park, but apparently they love to bark at tv dogs :)

Penny's Diaper

So about 3 days before Penny's spading appointment, she went into heat. Her and Zoey have gotten used to sleeping on the bed (Mark spoils them), but I gave her the ultimatum of Kennel or Diaper. She chose diaper.

Zoey likes to eat stuff (part 1)

So I think Zoey is teething because in the past two weeks she has been eating many things.

The first dangerous item was an alkaline battery. We caught her before she ingested too much and she survived the battery.

Since then she has also tried a sampling of several bathroom items. My bath puff, two razors and a tube of cream.. yuck!!!

So I got a new puff and hung it over the shower head. Zoey did not like that one bit! LOL :)

Penny the Puppy

Before we decided to get Zoey, I knew I wanted a miniarture schnauzer and her name was going to be Penny. We drove out to Whitewood and played with the two salt and pepper pups. The one we initially chose was so scared she would just run back to the pack. Then we got to hold puppy #8 and she was so scared but eventually started to lick my hand and cuddle.. so that was our pup. That was my Penny.

Zoey's First Day

We brought Zoey home a few hours after we picked out Penny. She was the cuddliest puggle of her litter and apparently was the best at pee pad training... she went over to the pad and peed beside it.

Mark named her Zoey on the car ride home and she was just so cute and energetic. And she loved her new house and all her new toys.

Shannon came over the first night and we hung out and played with Zoey! She tried so hard to jump on the couch and she tried to bite Shannon at every chance she got.

When mark got home from poker, Zoey just layed right on him and stretched out! Best sleeping picture so far!

She is such a great little puggle!!!

Welcome to Penny and Zoey's dog blog. We're setting this blog up to keep track of funny stories of our new pups as well as share pictures with family and friends.

Penny is a salt and pepper miniature schnauzer that was born in Whitewood, SK on Oct 20th, 2009. Her mom is salt and pepper and her dad is a yappy white mini schnauzer. Her favourite things to do are sit at the window and bark at everything in sight.

Zoey is a puggle from Regina and was born Sept 20, 2009. Her mom is a pug and her dad is a beagle. Zoey loves to play fetch, sit at the window with penny and cuddle. She is quite the lap dog!
